Why Choose New Haven Dental Group for All-on-4?

How Do All-on-4 Implants Work?

During your All-on-4 surgery, we insert two dental implants toward the front of your jaw and two near the back at an angle. This strategic placement strategy utilizes places in the jawbone that are naturally strong and thick. Not only does this provide a sturdy base for the denture that will go on top of the implants, but it also reduces that chance that a bone graft will be necessary.

Once the implants are in place, we immediately attach a provisional denture to them. You can literally arrive in our office with no teeth and leave with a complete smile. Later, after your mouth has healed adequately, you will return to our office to get your permanent All-on-4 denture.

All-on-4 vs. Traditional Dental Implants

In general, the All-on-4 treatment is faster and less costly than traditional implant-based full arch tooth replacement options. It is also less invasive because it typically involves just one surgery rather than two or more. Many people choose it because it allows you to enjoy a new set of teeth on the same day that you get dental implants, which is not always an option with traditional procedures.

Of course, there are situations in which traditional dental implants are the better option. Your implant dentist in Branford will help you compare the pros and cons of all your treatment choices before you commit to anything.

All-on-4 Dental Implants FAQs

Are All-on-4 dental implants covered by insurance?

Your dental insurance might help with part of the cost of All-on-4 dental implants in our Branford office, but each plan has its own rules and limitations. Some plans may cover exams, scans, extractions, or the final restoration, while others may view implant care as entirely elective and provide no coverage.

You should review your benefits before treatment so you know what to expect. Our team can assist you with this. In fact, we are in-network with many popular plans, and we have the expertise to help you navigate every aspect of the claims process.

If your insurance will not assist with the cost of your All-on-4 treatment, we may suggest other options to make your care more affordable. For example, we have an in-house discount plan. We also accept low-interest financing through CareCredit and Sunbit.

What foods can you eat after getting All-on-4 dental implants?

After you receive dental implants in Branford, you should start with soft, smooth foods that require little to no chewing. Good choices may include yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes, eggs, soft pasta, fish, and blended soup. You should avoid hard, sticky, hot, or crunchy foods at first.

As you heal, you can gradually incorporate tougher foods. After your implants are fully bonded with your jawbone and you receive your final restoration, you should be able to eat virtually anything. This includes relatively tough and chewy foods that are off-limits with traditional dentures.

Do All-on-4 dental implants take a long time to heal?

Even though you will receive a temporary denture on the same day as your implant surgery, that does not mean you will not need time to heal. Your gums may feel tender for a short period, and some soreness and swelling are normal. Any discomfort in your soft tissues may resolve after a couple of weeks. Most patients can return to work within a week or so after their surgery.

It takes longer for the jawbone to heal. In fact, it can be 3 – 6 months before the bone forms a strong bond with the implants.

Our team is ready to answer your questions throughout your recovery process, and we will monitor your progress to help things stay on track with your treatment plan.

Are All-on-4 dental implants removable?

All-on-4 dental implants are not removable like traditional dentures. The implants themselves are designed to permanently integrate with the jawbone, and the full arch of replacement teeth that attaches to them should only be removed by a dental professional for cleaning and maintenance/repair purposes.

Many patients enjoy the convenience that comes with having a 24/7 smile. However, having a fixed denture will require you to adjust your oral hygiene routine. You will need to use a water flosser or interdental brushes to clean the tight space under your restoration.

Are All-on-4 dental implants safe?

All-on-4 dental implants are generally very safe. The implant posts are made of biocompatible titanium alloy, which has a track record of integrating seamlessly with the human body. The restorations are also made of biocompatible materials.

Plus, our team utilizes every reasonable safety precaution to contribute to positive outcomes for each patient. For example, we implement strict sterilization measures in our office. We also plan treatments carefully based on each individual’s medical history and other important considerations.

Due to such safety precautions, All-on-4 dental implants have a very high success rate.
