MetLife Coverage Availability & Fees

MetLife offers a few different dental insurance plans, each of which comes with its own set of stipulations and fees. You should take time to familiarize yourself with the details of your unique policy. In the meantime, we can provide some general information about how your PPO coverage might work:

• Preventive services, like routine cleanings and checkups, are often 100% covered when you visit an in-network MetLife provider.
• Minor services, such as fillings, are frequently around 80% covered.
• Major services, often including crowns, root canal therapy, and dentures, may be around 50% covered.

Keep in mind that not all plans cover all services. Additionally, out-of-pocket fees may be different when you visit an in-network vs out-of-network provider. That is because in-network dentists have a contract with MetLife that controls fees and aims to help patients save as much money as possible.

Another important point to remember is that your plan likely enforces an annual maximum, or a yearly limit on the amount that MetLife will pay for approved services. Visiting an in-network provider can help you get more value from your annual maximum. In certain cases, we are even able to schedule major services across multiple appointments between calendar years. This strategy may allow you to use two annual maximums instead of just one.
